We reach St. Peter's Basilica by subway “Metro Line A” direction Battistini and get off at the Ottaviano stop, walk down via Ottaviano towards Piazza Risorgimento and immediately we are in front of the walls of the Vatican City.

A curiosity: the Vatican City, where St. Peter's Basilica is located, is an independent state in all respects and therefore equipped with its own currency and its own postal system, complete with stamps and special stamps. Stamps, stamped postcards and Vatican City coins are collectibles as well as original souvenirs to buy for yourself or to give to friends and relatives.

Inside the Basilica of San Pietro there are real treasures: the dome designed by Michelangelo, the bronze canopy and the funeral monument of Pope Urban VIII made by Bernini. Michelangelo's Pietà, the monument to Clement XIII by Canova and the mosaic of Giotto's Navicella.

A special area of St. Peter's Basilica houses the tombs of the popes, including the tomb of Pope John Paul II, one of the most visited by tourists and faithful. Also worth a visit are the Vatican Museums, which house the Sistine Chapel as well as the vast collections of Vatican art, are located within walking distance of St. Peter's Basilica.

At the entrance of the Vatican Museums there is always a long line of people waiting to enter: if you don't like to risk losing precious time waiting outside the museum, you can book your visit online on the official website of the Vatican Museums, skipping the line.
